Features of a successful Website

CAN YOU BUILD A SITE THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF

Do you know what it takes to create a successful website that attracts visitors to your site and also ranks your site with the search engine (SE).

I thought of sharing my thoughts with my friends here. The concept of owning your own website means really yours and not using other company's landing pages. They are the real owners you are just using their affiliate links to promote their activity and earn commission on it. You need to brand yourself.

Even when you are promoting affiliate product, having your own website will bring you higher recognition and you will be branding your website image.

Owning your own website means really your ideas that you invest on your website and which visitors are interested in reading and revisiting for learning more about what you have to offer.

It is easy to create a website and try to earn money, but successful websites are those which have been well planned. Planning is important because if applied in the correct way, it will bring you satisfaction and also earn you a good living.

The very first approach would be to decide on a strategy.

You need to come up with an idea i.e. a business plan. There is no specific pattern for an idea. Anything could be turned into an idea as long as you have a firm belief in it and know how to make it successful. The key to success is motivation and perseverance.

Now that you have an idea, what you would need is to see

• who are your targeted customers,


• what are their needs and


• what could you provide them.

Once you have them, creating a website will become easier. Basic steps would be:

1. Creating a Business Plan


2. Finding the right Niche (market, people, product, place)


3. Applying the strategy

Step1. About my site www.master-your-computer.com



Go to yahoo and type the words "master your computer". The first website (www.master-your-computer.com) that you see is mine. I have created this site two months back and is still under development (due to my other business pressure). And I have been ranked #1 at Yahoo for the keywords used. So anybody typing "master your computer" will see my website and will hence click to see what it contains.

This is important because if you are not in the 1st 2 pages of the SE then you will never get visitors to your site. You will also notice that I have no links yet to earn any money (explained in Step 5). My site is receiving at the moment in average 15 visitors per day, and this is increasing on a daily basis, most of it is being driven by Google and Yahoo. I track them everyday and see the progress of my site.

Anyone can create a website. Now a days, you have number of web hosting companies offering you these services. Some do it for free and some are for a monthly fee. But to turn a website into a successful one there are some key factors and features to look at and not all web hosting companies provide you that.

Step2. Creating a Website - The Look and Feel Feature

Create a website that attracts not only the readers but also the Search engines (SE). SE like Google, Yahoo, Ask and MSN are important as they bring you potential readers through the keywords the readers look for. SE will rank your website based on the keywords used and the quality of articles.

Step3. Creating web pages (keyword concept)

Build pages with particular keywords that bring traffic to your site. Keyword analyzing can be very time consuming and choosing the write keywords is not an easy task. A wrong keyword will not bring traffic to your site. You will end up at the bottom of the list and your visitors will never see your site.

You need to do extensive brainstorming to find the appropriate keywords for each page of your website. To bare in mind that not all your pages will be ranked at the same level by SE. So it is vital to select which pages should have the most valuable and attractive keywords.

Step4. Writing Good Content that Attract Visitors

Write pages that attract your readers and SE. The articles should be unique to your visitors so that the visitors are tempted to come back and re-read them. SE’s rank your site through the quality of your articles. So this is the most important part of building your website. ATTRACTING VISITORS TO YOUR SITE.

The more you get ranked by SE, the more visitors will come to your site. Writing contents is not difficult, all you need is to be passionate of what you are doing and be YOURSELF.

Step5. Earn Money

We should not of course forget the most important part that is TO EARN MONEY for what we are doing. This will follow automatically. You will be able to keep track through your website, what type of visitors come to your site and accordingly, put your monetization options, like selling products, books, services etc... There are hundreds of options in the internet.

Why most of us fail is because we jump straight to step 5 that is earning money. How would you feel if somebody is selling you a product before explaining what it is all about. You would look elsewhere.

Step6. Subscription

If you look at my website, I have option for subscribing to my website. This allows visitors to your website to become a member. The good news, you are now building your own traffic. This database will allow you to inform your potential readers of any change that has been made to your website and will prompt them to revisit your website. It also allows you to send news letters. This gives more value to your site.

CONCLUSION

Well, I suppose I have written a lot. I have tried various web hosting companies so far. I tried the free and also some paid ones. I was so disappointed with their services that I withdrew from them.

Not all provide you a complete service. Would you not want to learn how to create all these features and create a website with zero knowledge in computers. How many provide you that service?
